15 years ago I had my foods tested as I was quite unwell. My tests came out saying I needed to steer away from Wheat & Egg. I did this for a number of years. I was told that as I was so young, I should be ok to try and reintroduce these back into my diet in years to come. 6 years later I started to reintroduce, with no serious side effects. Until 2 years ago. I had been doing a lot of baking at home, as I loved to cook. One day I was at work & just started to feel very unwell. I ended up in at our local Emergency Department.
It turns out my body had said enough is enough, this reaction would happen anytime I ate anything containing wheat or egg, to the point of even traces of & I was sick. I now need to wear an S.O.S on my wrist.
I started cooking Gluten Free & Egg Free after this, just at home for myself. This then turned into friends asking me to make things for them.
Very quickly it turned into a small business. As my article “Sarah turns a Food Intolerance in a business that helps others too” explains, printed in the SpringDale Messenger November 2009.
I now cook Certified Gluten Free & Egg Free Biscuits, Cakes & Slices, in my registered kitchen. I have had my items Certified, through sending my ingredients to laboratories, testing for Gluten & Egg traces. I know from personal experience that eating out with my level of sensitivity to foods, is quite difficult. I am very thankful for the Cafés & Restaurants that have bent over backwards to be able to safely cater for me, when I want to eat out with my friends. Now with having my products out in local Cafes I can share some of my cooking with others that either choose to or are unable to eat Gluten or Egg like myself.
